Our Ancient History study of the fall of Rome....

First day of full school!

Image
We started our full school routine today! We have been working up to this point during the last week or so. It was a good first day full of math, science, language arts and science. Of course there were projects and experiments to do! Here Emma is making the dough for her Roman pillar cookie! I'll post the final picture later this afternoon. Of course she had to lick the bowl! Here we are testing to see how many pennies we can put into the cup before the water overflows. I think she got up to 50 something but I know the water was leaking out before then since the towel was soaked! :-) I am so blessed that I am able to homeschool Emma. It's not something I ever thought I would do but I am very glad that we are. I love being involved and knowing what she is doing all day. I love the interactions we have, the conversations we have... because soon these days will be gone...

Sand in the City - Part 1

Image
We went down to "Sand in the City" again this year. We love looking at all the creativity with sand! It always amazes us how people can not only come up with these ideas but make them into works of art! Toy Story 3 with Mr. Potato Head in pieces This was one of my favorites! This is Emma's favorite part... playing in the sand. They always have the best sand to play in!

Sand in the City - Part 2

Image
Emma & Robert made this crazy hat at one of the craft stations. She didn't want me to take a picture but I was able to snap one anyway! :-) They had a doctor there putting "casts" on kids arms. Emma said she always wanted to know what it would be like with a broken arm without the pain! Especially since a friend of hers broke her arm this summer. Here she is with her "cast". It only lasted for maybe an hour before she took it off. Good thing she didn't break it for real! :-)

Last Day - Blast Off Camp

Image
Emma had a great time at the Museum of Flight's "Blast Off" camp. She learned about rockets, space and more! Robert & I arrived a little early to pick her up from camp. We snapped theses pictures of her in her classroom. :-) Here she is playing a game while waiting for us to pick her up. Here is our "Blast Off" graduate! She is so excited for next year already!

Day 4 - Blast Off Camp

Today at camp Emma got to tour the brand new planetarium at the museum. She said it was pretty cool. Then they had lunch and made a map after lunch. And that was about it! Though I think there was more that they did, she just can't remember! But it does make me thankful that I homeschool because I know what she does all day! She did say that she wishes she could go for another week! Well that's good! I guess she doesn't miss us too much!

Day 3 - Blast Off Camp

I called Emma this afternoon like I have every day this week to check how camp went. They were at Toys R Us when I called. Here is how our conversation went: Mom "Hi Emma!" Emma, "Hi Mama" Mom, "How was camp today?" Emma, "I got 2 Littlest Pet Shop toys!" Mom "Cool! So what did you do at camp today? I've been updating our blog so people can know what you're doing at camp." Emma, "I don't know." Mom, "Do you want me to call you back later? Are you distracted with shopping at Toys R Us? Emma, "Yeah" Mom, "Ok I'll call you later so that you can tell me all about it." So later when I called her this is what she said she did... "Made a parachute, had lunch, listened to a story, had a snack and it was a boy's birthday so we had cupcakes." Hmm seems to me she left out some information. Considering she is there from 9 am - 4 pm! Ahh the joys of adolescence! We'll see what tomo...
