There once was a woman...

Image
We were driving back from Oregon when we came up behind this... Is this a house? Yep and it's a shoe! It's the woman who lived in the shoe! How cool is this??

The Applegate Trail

Image
Robert found this GREAT musuem about the Applegate Trail. It is part of the Oregon trail that came out west. It was such a great museum with such rich history! Unfortunately they wouldn't allow cameras inside the museum so we only got shots outside. All of the items in the museum are originals so we were assuming they didn't want them to get damaged with flashes from cameras and such. The covered bridge. Emma and I are reading 'Little House on the Prairie'. What a great visual for what it would be like to travel in a covered wagon! She wasn't too happy that Robert was shaking the carriage, she thought she was going to fall. Though I like this picture because they have the same look as those from the film in the museum. I would too if I went through what those people had to endure!

Last night

Image
Here is our last night around the fire. The last time to do smores too! We sat around, ate smores and told Emma stories from when we were kids. She especially loved the stories about Daddy and how he got in trouble when he was a kid! Emma and her dog... good thing we brought the double chair! Emma's fire that she helped Daddy make! Too hot!

Fort Klamath

Image
We visited Fort Klamath on the way back from Crater Lake. Back in the day it was THE fort. It was over 1000 acres and was home to the 1st Calvary of the US Army. It was a really cool place to visit! Emma with a soldier's saddle and gear. Captain Jack is actually buried here with the three other Modoc Indians that were executed.

Crater Lake

Image
We took a trip up to see Crater Lake.. or so we thought... there were forest fires in the area so it was all smoky. Unfortunately it meant we couldn't see the lake. We were really looking forward to see it too! It's the clearest lake in the country and the third deepest in the world. Oh well, we got to see the pictures in the gift shop at least! Here is what is next to the road on the way up to Crater Lake. It was beautiful! Don't get too close to the edge, otherwise you better enjoy the view while it lasts! Mt. Mazama is what used to be over Crater Lake. When it collapsed, it created the lake. Bear paw? If you look really close, you can kind of see the lake?

Sunset on the beach

Image
We watched the sunset one night down at the beach. It was beautiful! A day after playing in the sun... rosy cheeks! The moon... Family shot! Spooky Emma

Nature Walk

Image
Emma and I decided to go for a nature walk one afternoon. We discovered lots of great things... We think these are some deer tracks. We discovered a fawn and her mother one morning outside our cabin. So we're assuming these could be their tracks. Emma took this cool picture of the lake. It looks like it has diamonds floating on it! Emma & Mommy We decided to take a picture of us on this trash incinerator. We've never seen anything like these before and thought they were cool. At first we thought maybe they were pizza ovens or something! :-)
